About us
Founded in 1954, RMA’s purpose is to provide a venue for the friendly association of men who have an interest in Volunteerism, Fellowship and Service. Volunteer service by RMA members to support internal operations and area communities exceeds 16,000 hours per year. You do not need to be retired, in spite of our name! RMA is non-partisan, non-sectarian and not-for-profit, honors our country and supports efforts to achieve good government. Membership in the RMA is open to all men residing in Greenwich or nearby Towns in both CT and NY, aged 55 or over. You may still be working! If you are interested in the activities and objectives of the RMA and want to join, please contact Membership Chairman at members@greenwichrma.org RMA Meetings take place every Wednesday year-round except when it conflicts with major holidays. Meetings are at the First Presbyterian Church at One West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich CT 06830 (directions). Park in the Town parking lot to the north of the church off Lafayette Place. Members and male guests start arriving for coffee and socializing at about 9:00 AM. Business meeting starts at 9:45 AM for about 45 minutes followed by coffee, danish and socializing. Featured speakers begin at 11 AM, so try to be there by 10:45 AM and ends around noon. Women are welcome for the speaker portion of our meetings. Speakers are the highlight of our weekly meetings. RMA is known for the quality of its speakers. Select “Speakers” on menu bar to see our list of recent speakers, biographies and a link to numerous videos. Past speakers have covered a variety of subjects including military history, advances in medical technology, the financial meltdown and numerous historical figures such as Mark Twain and P. T. Barnum. Notable past speakers include Scott Pelley of CBS News and 60 minutes fame, Bill Scheft comedy writer for David Letterman, Governor Malloy and Congressman Jim Himes. Popular local choral and instrumental groups also entertain at times. RMA offers a wide variety of Activities for member participation. RMA provides Social Events for members and invited guests. These include our fall Annual Banquet and a late summer picnic in the Clambake area at Greenwich Point. In addition, several times each year, RMA organizes Special Events; day-trips by bus for members and invited guests to various events or sites of special interest in the tri-state area, plus lunch. |
