The Cigar Box Bulletin (CBB): overview |
The Cigar Box Bulletin (CBB) is the association's weekly newsletter, dating back to 1955. A CBB team works every week to write and publish this informative, 10-15 page illustrated bulletin for our members. The CBB is the official record of all matters covered at our regular Membership meetings, including announcements, helpful tips, jokes, news of activities, biographies and pictures of new members, and a summary of the weekly public talk. If you had to miss a meeting, or you were there but didn’t quite get that joke or announcement, check the CBB! Each issue is assembled by a “scribe,” who receives input from the speakers at the meeting in electronic form (typically in Word) and puts these pieces together into a narrative. There is very little writing involved today. In fact, the scribe even receives a summary of the 11 am public speaker’s talk (generated by an artificial intelligence program) which only needs to be checked for accuracy. The scribe sends his assembled draft to the CBB Chairman/Editor, who edits and formats each issue. It is then distributed by email to all members. We can truly use new members to join the CBB team as scribes. It is a great way to get to know the organization and interact with many leading members of the RMA. Many of our most active members and leaders started out as scribes. Each scribe performs his duty once or twice per quarter. If you’re interested, contact the chairman. Here are a set of sample issues from October 2024 plus the special issue covering the 70th Anniversary Banquet. (These samples omit contact information such as email addresses which are, however, provided to members.) | With member access |
